Hello! We are excited that you are interested in exploring Panhellenic Primary Recruitment. Please fill out the registration form and pay the $75 fee to complete the process. For payment you will receive an email from Chloe Cory with further instructions during the summer.

Transcript Requirements:

First-year Students: Provide your high school transcript with all eight semesters once they are finalized. If you attended multiple schools, combine the transcripts into 1 PDF before uploading. Do not register for recruitment until your grades are finalized.

Transfer Students: Provide a transcript from any college(s) you attend, if there are multiple please combine them into 1 PDF.

SMU Returning Students: The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will provide your SMU GPA to the sororities. Please upload a work document and copy the following into it "I am a SMU student and am returning for Fall 2025".

Potential new members have the option to upload a video to introduce themselves to chapters or do a written submission. PLEASE NOTE THAT BECAUSE THE FIRST ROUND OF RECRUITMENT IS VIDEO REVIEW, IT IS REQUIRED THAT YOU SUBMIT A VIDEO FOR CHAPTERS TO VIEW. *If you have concerns about a video submission, or are unable to do so, please contact panhellenic@smu.edu for an alternative option.

Please review the instructions below. This video should be recorded on your phone and then uploaded to your registration application through a video link. Please see below for instructions on how to create a video link through Youtube. Submitting a video will not enhance or minimize the likelihood of you receiving a bid at the end of this process.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please record this video using a cell phone or a device of similar caliber and create a video link to upload in your registration. You should not utilize professional equipment.
Please wear an SMU, Dallas, or plain t-shirt in the video. You may wear any bottoms of your choosing.
The video must be recorded in front of a plain background. No props are allowed.
The PNM is the only person allowed to be seen/heard in the video.
This video must be sent in as part of the registration process. Please note that you cannot come back to add your video later. You should only register once you have your video link ready.
You should set your video to unlisted so that only those who have the link can access it. For instructions on how to create a video link, please see below:

Once your video is completed and ready to upload, we recommend using Youtube and the upload instructions are below:

1.) If you do not have a Youtube account, you will need to create one, but it can be easily created using a Gmail account.

2.) Click on the profile icon in the top, right corner and select “your channel”

3.) Select Upload Video

4.) Click “Select Files” or drag and drop the file to upload

5.) Title your video, keep it simple but identifiable.

6.) Click next, and next again to get to reach the “visibility” page

7.) On the “visibility” page, select “unlisted,” and save the video

8.) Copy the video link

9.) Paste the video link into the recruitment application in ICS

Hazing Agreement

By proceeding, I acknowledge that I have been informed of and read the University and Texas policies against hazing. I understand what constitutes hazing and know that these practices are not only harmful but also have no place in Greek-letter organizations. I know that hazing cannot be a part of new member education or initiation; and that if it is, the chapter I am seeking membership into is violating the policies of SMU, (inter)national organization, as well as Texas State Law. I know that if I am subjected to/become aware of any hazing activities, I should notify the proper authorities, including, but not limited to, the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards, National Organization Headquarters and/or local police department.

SMU Code of Conduct

Hazing, being hazed, and/or failing to report hazing incidents. "Hazing" means any intentional, knowing, or reckless act, occurring on or off the campus of an educational institution, by one person alone or acting with others, directed against a student, for the purpose of pledging, being initiated into, affiliating with, holding office in, or maintaining membership in an organization if the act is:

Any type of physical brutality, such as whipping, beating, striking, branding, electric shocking, placing of a harmful substance on the body or similar activity;
Involves sleep deprivation, exposure to the elements, confinement in a small space, calisthenics, or other similar activity that subjects the student to an unreasonable risk of harm or that adversely affects the mental or physical health or safety of the student;
Involves consumption of food, liquid, alcoholic beverage, liquor, drug or other substance, other than as described by Paragraph (E), that subjects the student to an unreasonable risk of harm or which adversely affects the mental or physical health of the student;
Is any activity that induces, causes, or requires the student to perform a duty or task that involves a violation of the Penal code; or involves coercing, as defined by Section 1.07, Penal Code, the student to consume an alcoholic beverage, liquor, or drug in an amount that would lead a reasonable person to believe that the student is intoxicated, as defined by Section 49.01, Penal Code.

**The fact that a person consented or acquiesced in a hazing activity is not a defense to prosecution for hazing under the law.**

A person commits an offense if he or she:

1. engages in hazing;

2. solicits, encourages, directs, aids, or attempts to aid another in engaging in hazing;

3. intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly permits hazing to occur; or

4. has firsthand knowledge of the planning of a specific hazing incident involving a student in an educational institution, or firsthand knowledge that a specific hazing incident has occurred, and knowingly fails to report said knowledge in writing to the Dean of Students or other appropriate officials of the institution.

Consent is not a defense. Even if you express a desire to be hazed, hazing is still illegal and in violation of University policy.

ACADEMIC AND CONDUCT RECORDS RELEASE AGREEMENT

I hereby give permission to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life to obtain and release my academic and conduct records to the appropriate University and fraternity officials. I understand that I must meet all of the SMU minimum eligibility requirements to participate in recruitment. Subsequently, the appropriate University officials are authorized to release my academic and conduct information to the chapter president and adviser each semester for the purposes of chapter self-governance and accountability.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, also known as FERPA and/or The Buckley Amendment of 1974, as amended, grants students attending post-secondary institutions certain rights and privacies regarding their education records. By submitting this form, the student may consent to release his/her education records and/or other information to a third-party for a defined purpose.

This registration form is not a binding agreement to a chapter (fraternity or sorority), but a FERPA/SMU requirement in order to verify eligibility and permission to check and release academic, judicial records and all recruitment registration information to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and applicable fraternity/sorority chapters. This release will be in effect for as long as membership is maintained in the fraternity and sorority community.

INFORMATION DISCLOSURE: By clicking below, you agree to the terms listed above and to allow you registration information to be made available to Southern Methodist University's Panhellenic chapters as part of the recruitment process.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: By clicking below, you agree that you understand the following minimum requirements for participating.

Students interested in joining one of our fraternities or sororities must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Students must be enrolled in at least 12 hours during the semester in which they plan to join, and have completed new student orientation requirements, if applicable.
Achieve a 2.0 cumulative GPA, calculated on a 4.0 GPA scale. This can be demonstrated through high school transcripts for incoming first-year students, or through my.SMU or transfer records for upper-class students.
Not be placed on conduct probation or higher with the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards during the semester in which a student plans to join prior to initiation.
Attend Mandatory Stampede Orientation events as directed by the Orientation and Transitions Office
Please note that most individual organizations have policies requiring a higher GPA or hour completion for membership. We highly recommend that students review these requirements as they explore the opportunities to join.
**Average GPA of students participating in primary Panhellenic recruitment last year was a 3.4.
